Dr. Mark W. Schwartz serves as executive director at Targazyme, a biopharmaceutical company in San Diego, California, that develops point-of-care products designed to improve safety and clinical efficiency for cancer therapies. Also a member of the adjunct faculty at San Jose State University, Dr. Mark W. Schwartz belongs to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
The organization is accepting applications for its Education Scholars Program in order to enhance the ASCO learning platform. The year-long program combines leadership development with the chance to join a team committed to designing ASCO education activities using learning science and theory. Participants will undergo leadership and science training under the guidance of an executive leadership coach, while learning the necessary skills to become medical education leaders. Their training will also prepare them to serve on ASCO focused education committees and planning groups responsible for integrating additional programs and activities.
ASCO selects 12 participants for the program on an annual basis. The program consists of three components: four three-day training sessions, monthly conference calls, and participation in an independent learning project. Participants will receive reimbursements for costs related to housing and travel for the sake of the program.
Eligible applicants include ASCO members who already completed specialty training in their chosen medical discipline. The program will continue to accept applications for the 2019-2020 program cycle until September 25, 2018.
